Microsoft has recently launched new search engine made Bing gain ground against its main rival Google in search market, but the achievements remain underwhelming.  Bing made some progress during the first weeks of June but not enough to change the dynamics of the search market

The latest report from media analysis firm StatCounter reveals that Bing had 8.23 percent of U.S. Web searches in June. This is compared with 7.21 percent in April.

“At first glance, a one percent increase in market share does not appear to be a great return on investment made in Microsoft Bing, but the trend is positive,” said Cullen Aodh, CEO of StatCounter. “We have come, if not spectacular may be the best way to describe the results so far.”

Market trends after the launch Bing
Google still dominates the U.S. search market, but Bing has impacted the search giant. Microsoft is investing $ 80 million to $ 100 million market for Bing.

In April, was launched before Bing, Google had 79.07 percent of the search market. In June, it fell slightly to 78.48 percent.

Search-analyzing the weekly market trends for June, Cullen noted that the sites of Microsoft, including Bing, Live Search and MSN Search, an increase after the start, Bing 9.21 percent. Bing then a bath during the next two weeks, but recovered in the last week of June to 8.45 percent.

According to NetApplications, an online business metrics, Google remains the leader in global market share of search a huge margin of 81.22 percent, followed by Yahoo at 9.21 percent, at 5.31percent Bing, AOL in 1 , 74 percent, and Ask to 0.84 percent.

Hitwise, an online business metrics Bing paint in a light less impressive. For the four weeks ending June 27, 2009, which measures the share of searches in Google by 74.04 percent from 16.19 percent at Yahoo, the Bing 4.99 percent and Ask at 3 15 percent.

ComScore, a Web metrics company reported last month that Microsoft’s share of search results in the U.S. was 12.1 percent between June 8 and June 12, up 3 percent for the week of May 25th-29th when it was introduced Bing.

Google dominates the market
The figures show that Bing is a strong contender, but perhaps not strong enough. A recent survey by the Catalyst Group, a New York based design firm, found that despite users trying Bing were not abandoning their standard search engines and respondents still prefer Google for Bing 2 and 1 plans to continue using Google instead of switching to Bing.

In the end, one can say with certainty that the changes may be small but Bing is still in the reckoning in the search market.
